FC3 - hoping for better

Postby FC2MIS on Sun Jul 25, 2010 6:12 pm

I did really liked the game (im still playing it), i love it and its a very good game...
I know that FC2 is "dead" by now, no modding - no game,no one is playing it, maybe because they think its boring, or maybe because the poor map editor, or just not a good game, i dont know why no one plays it anymore, i think its because the poor editor and no modding and no support from ubisoft....anyway there is no hope...

i hope far cry 3 will be a good game, that people will like, that ubi will provide a map editor just like cry engine 2, or should i call it an Engine, not just a simple "map editor"?
i hope they will open a modding community that will keep the game alive, like Crysis, i love crysis and FC2 but im sad FC2 is dead...
i want that ubi will do what they havent done with farcry2, i hope they wont just leave the game

I want to believe that far cry 2 was just a test, and now FC3 will be the real thing.

sorry for my poor english....

I just hope its more linear, don't get me wrong, open world has its benefits but bloody hell it got annoying driving half way across the map just to kill someone. They should look back at Far Cry 1 and take what made that a success and use it in Far Cry 3. For example the way the game was linear but you could still implement different tactics each play through and take different routes to your objectives, while it wasn't much of a detour most of the time it was enough to immerse me in the game. Far Cry 2 just didn't have this, its AI were retarded enough to fail in combat and yet were some how able to hear a silenced MP5 and know exactly where it came from. Sure Crytek isn't with them anymore but it doesn't mean they can't make a good game, I had alot of hope for Far Cry 2 but it just failed me in that it was so repetitive and laked the ability for good stealth. Lets just hope FC3 is just as amazing as the first one and that FC2 was just just a test to see how that sort of gameplay would play out.

hey! thank you for your reply, i thought nobody is here...
both linear and open world are good.
well, its difficult to enjoy far cry 1 now after you play the new game these days, i think they shouldnt look back at far cry ..actually i read about fc3 and its still in the open world - its great, i love it!!!
i dont like the linear game, but they are good! its just boring.

in an open world you really do everything you want, in linear game you cant, and it gets boring after you play and play...everything the same.
they just need to improve some things to make it wonderful game, like AI, and stealh, for example i was hiding in the bushes and then shot at some guy in a camp, he didnt die. there were 2 guys with him and the three were looking and aiming at the ground with their weapons.
i was shooting but they were just standing there untill i killed all of them...they didnt even run away or did something smart.
i can remember cases when i shot at the enemies and they knew exactly where i was, unrealistic AI.

they need to support the game like Crytek support Crysis, improve some aspects of the game, and include a real game Engine, SDK, support modding community and other things i am not aware of....

lets hope.

With linear games, if done right they play out well, an example of linear not quite playing out well is the newest AVP game, that game allows for NO exploration and each play through is exactly the same, atleast with Far Cry it was re playable. But I know what you mean about it being difficult to enjoy the first one nowadays with all the new games and the super graphics and stuff, but its still a great game. If FC3 is open world, lets just hope they have random crap happening through out the map, unlike FC2 where the 2 factions are at war with each other and yet you never encounter them fighting each other, it just seemed like it was you vs everyone else. Fallout 3's and Red Dead Redemption's open world was amazing, always stuff happening and not everyone tried killing you one first sight. The thing I found to be most useless in FC2 though was the notoriety system, that done bugger all, it just made the merc's in the towns more afraid of you, when I first heard of it I thought it would effect the way things played out but boy was I wrong. And yea the AI need a massive improvement along with stealth, IMO it was just impossible to go through a mission in FC2 in stealth, yea sure i managed to sneak through bases undetected every now and then, but you couldn't pick 'em off one by one.Metro 2033 was also some what like this, while you could actually go stealth and kill people one by one, if you missed just ONCE, every one in the complex, even people around corners and down hallways instantly know where you are and come for you. And last but not least, yea they do need to show more support, it seemed to me like they released a few patches and a DLC and then called it quits. Valve really showed other companies up with their modding support for all of their games as far as I know and allowing community based servers with perks or different layouts and gameplay. I just hope Ubisoft has listened to the Far Cry communities every where and takes in all the various ideas on what was done right and what needs improving on and then make an awesome game out of it.

Yes, in fact I loved that factions war, it was fun but i'd love to see some action while i drive, mercenaries will shoot at you as soon they see you, and only you.
its only UFLL or APR, not together.
i want to see more animals, do you agree with me? the world is so lonely, nothing happens, a few zebras, and you driving or walking what about giraffes, hyenas lions......come on its an open lonely world.
but the weather system and day and night cycle improves the experience! these are the advantages of the game, although AI was supposed to be too but it failed.
I'm pretty interested in fallout, can you please tell me what exactly happens in the fallout world?
I don't know yet about the notoriety system, i haven't finished the game, believe it or not, :D .
I managed to sneak into enemy's bases and even kill one with a knife! its fun! and then i got to a cover because EVERYONE came "woke up" (night). I climbed to sniper tower and took the damn sniper to shoot them, and i killed more than one mercenary. they didnt know where i was and i could hear two or more talking "where are you" " i think he is only one" "come on come on asshole " and some whistles... but they didnt climb to the sniper tower, and i was there!! just right above them! and they heard the firing and bullets i was shooting at their friends.
from that position(on the sniper tower at night) i could see how they struggle to stay alive while i shoot at them and they search for covers, and even one guy that survived from a bullet in his leg could crawl to a cover.
SO this game is not bad, the AI is truly improved and its beyond what other games' AI are capable of.
Ok Im waiting for FC3, im sure Ubisoft inspects the forums to see what us, the fans think. i hope they will use it to improve FC3

Yea I would love to see more animals, especially predators like lions, hyena's etc. Red Dead Redemption done well with all the animals in it, it really immersed you in the game.
In Fallout 3 there was just random stuff that would occasionally happen, like slave's escaping their masters, Super Mutants attacking people and just lots of stuff like that. There were also lots of different factions around the map, some were permanently enemies though such as the bandits, but others you could friend up with or kill, it was really up to you. It also had a really good notoriety system, where killing good people and doing bad things gave you certain advantages in areas where all the bad-asses were such as discounts, better pay, and if you upgraded your perk thing, you could collect I think its the fingers of good people and sell them to some bad guy. Also if you became an ultimate bad-ass, you would be hunted down by vigilantes. This same sort of thing also applied if you were good. FC2 however just made the mercs in game respond to you differently in the cease-fire areas. You also don't have to finish the game to notice the notoriety in FC2, after each mission it should say up the top of the screen that certain things are unlocked, new missions, and then it should say 'reputation increased'. Its nothing special but I would have liked it to have more of an effect on the game play and how you interact with people.
And yea killing people with the knife is fun, my character is miserable though and always finishes them off with a stab to the crutch lol. And yea I know what you mean about them not climbing towers etc, if you are up stairs or ladders they just seem to run around lost and occasionally shoot at you to no effect (well, most of the time anyway). Also, yea this games AI is better than some games AI, but its not exactly the greatest. IMO FC1 had FAR better AI in that they would respond tactically, hunt you down in squads, and respond how you would expect some one in that situation to respond. They also had commanders who gave orders to the group, so shooting him usually effected how the fire-fight would play out, as sometimes they would run around confused, or just frag the crap out of an area and shoot like theres no tomorrow. And their way of reinforcements was awesome, a Black Hawk loaded with troops came and dropped of troops then flew around for ground support, where as FC2's way of reinforcements either came via a Jeep that could easily be dispatched or the game would wait for you get out of site the spawn more.
